Transportation Reports and Studies

To better understand the Skagit Regional Transportation System and develop solutions to inform the Regional Transportation Plan and associated programs, SCOG may conduct a study in a specific area or topic. These studies inform decision makers as they explore a wide range of possible alternatives for transportation improvements, in order to identify preferred solutions.

Two examples of recent studies which inform decision making at the regional level include the Cook Road Corridor Study and the Skagit Rail Crossing Study. Both studies identify challenges related to the intermodal transportation network, where different modes of transportation intersect. Maintaining mobility, safety, economic vitality, environmental sustainability, and preserving the existing transportation system are all goals of the transportation planning process. Studies and reports help to identify solutions which meet these regional priorities both now and in future years.
