Notice of Public Comment Period

Notice of Public Comment Period

Notice is hereby given that the Skagit Council of Governments (SCOG) has made the draft Skagit Coordinated Public Transit-Human Services Transportation Plan (Plan) and draft Skagit Regional Prioritization of Human Services Transportation Projects (Regional Prioritization) available for public comment.

The Plan is prepared and approved through a regional process that includes participation by seniors; individuals with disabilities; representatives of public, private, and nonprofit transportation; human services providers; and other members of the public. The Plan includes an inventory of current transportation services; an assessment of transportation needs for special needs populations and gaps in services; strategies and projects to meet identified needs and service gaps; and priorities for implementation. A section on technology and emergency management is also included in the Plan.

Through the Regional Prioritization, projects in the Skagit region are assigned regional priority for the statewide 2019–2021 Washington State Department of Transportation Consolidated Grant Program.  Regional criteria and weights were used to evaluate projects included in the Regional Prioritization.

The public comment period closes on November 9, 2018.  Action on approval of the Plan and Regional Prioritization is anticipated at the November 21, 2018 SCOG Transportation Policy Board meeting.  All written comments received on or before November 9 will be distributed to the Transportation Policy Board one week before the meeting.

An electronic copy of the draft Plan and draft Regional Prioritization can be downloaded from SCOG’s website at the links below.  Paper copies are available at SCOG offices located at 315 South Third Street, Suite 100, Mount Vernon, WA 98273 during normal business hours. Please contact Mark Hamilton at (360) 416-7876 or markh@scog.net with any questions about the draft Plan or draft Regional Prioritization.  Written comments must be emailed to markh@scog.net, mailed to the address above or hand delivered during regular business hours.
