Transportation Plans

As Skagit County’s federally recognized Metropolitan Planning Organization, SCOG is responsible for coordinating the development and updating of the Regional Transportation Plan (RTP). This long-range plan anticipates the next twenty years of regional growth and development, and prioritizes projects and strategies for optimized mobility of goods and people, public safety, economic vitality, environmental stewardship and preservation of our existing transportation system.

Other transportation plans supplement the vision of the RTP. These include the Coordinated Public Transit – Human Services Transportation Plan, which identifies projects and strategies for increased mobility for populations with special needs, and the Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) Architecture. The ITS Architecture inventories available technologies which can be used to promote the regional priorities identified in the RTP.
