Skagit County Housing Action Plan

Planning for regional growth includes creating affordable housing opportunities for local residents. Even beyond Skagit County, creating affordability for renters and homeowners is a regional concern. In 2010, the Skagit County Board of County Commissioners established an Affordable Housing Advisory Committee to develop and recommend an affordable housing plan. This plan, Building a Skagit County Affordable Housing Strategy, was completed in 2012 and updated in 2016.

The Skagit County Housing Action Plan was completed in 2017, in conjunction with the Skagit County Housing Inventory and Transportation Analysis Final Report. Both the plan and the report are intended to build on the efforts of jurisdictions and nonprofit organizations to provide a more in-depth understanding of local housing characteristics and affordability issues countywide.

Note: The Housing Action Plan is not part of a formal governmental planning process or any process to amend current Countywide Planning Policies. The Plan was prepared for informational purposes as a non-binding document that requires no formal action on the part of any local government.
