19 Mar Notice of Public Comment Period for Regional Project Selection Evaluation Process
Notice is hereby given that the Skagit Council of Governments (SCOG) has made a proposed regional project evaluation process available for public comment. Through the proposed process, transportation projects would be selected to receive federal funds from the Surface Transportation Block Grant program, Transportation Alternatives set-aside and Highway Infrastructure Program. Regional criteria and weights to evaluate projects are included in the proposed evaluation process.
The public comment period closes on April 2, 2021. Action on approval of an evaluation process is anticipated at the April 21, 2021 SCOG Transportation Policy Board meeting. All written comments received on or before April 2 will be distributed to the Transportation Policy Board one week before the meeting.

Comments on Non-Roadway Funding Set-Aside— Discontinue the 10% Set-Aside and place these funds back into road and bridge preservation and maintenance projects where they are needed. 2. TAC Project ranking: Reduce the 10 points for TAC Committee Priority to 5 points and add these 5 points to Preservation and Maintenance for a total of 20 points where it’s needed. After listening to this state legislative sessions concerns and WSDOT reports preservation and maintenance of the states roads and bridges are in deep trouble mainly due to lack of priority of funding for preservation and maintenance needs.
